Tips to Becoming a Contributor

Now that you’re a Member of an Enclave, new sections of the TempleDAO Discord for each Enclave are visible to you. Within each section are the social channels and threads, as well as the Chambers specific to the ongoing work functions of the Enclaves. A good first step at this point is taking some time to familiarize yourself with the layout and current happenings in yours.

There’s no one way to contribute to the Temple, so how you specifically fit into the broader organizational efforts can take many forms. However, as a prerequisite, it’s highly valuable to have a solid foundational understanding of how Temple works as well as its values and ethos. Two great resources for this are the Temple Medium as well as the Gitbook. Having this familiarity helps ensure that any contributions you make are in line with the broader Temple, and thus have a greater positive impact.

Communication

A great first step is to start getting to know the leadership structure within your Enclave. Introduce yourself to Disciples, let them know that you’re interested in helping, and let them know what your skills and talents are. Ask questions if you need clarity on anything, or if you’d like to know where your abilities can be best utilized.

Engagement

If you see open work that you feel you can add value to, engage in the conversation. If you notice areas needing improvement and have an idea for a solution, bring it up to a Disciple or Initiate. Proactiveness is valued and appreciated!

Proposals

Whether it’s an idea for a treasury investment strategy in Logic, a marketing initiative in Chaos, an artistic idea in Mystery, or anything else, we want to empower Templars to bring their ideas to the table. Talent in the Temple runs deep and wide, and we’re always looking for fresh ideas and perspectives to help improve all aspects of what we do.

If you have a proposal to present, bring it to a Disciple or Initiate for feedback and direction on how to most effectively introduce it into discussion. The protocol for each Enclave will vary in this regard, so make sure to become familiar with yours.

Be Open to Constructive Feedback

With all of this being said, it’s important to be open to constructive feedback. Not all proposals are adopted, and not all work efforts fit into the bigger picture. Many efforts go through multiple iterations from concept to final form, and some even become obsolete mid-work due to higher-level circumstances in Temple’s direction. But all told, this is all driven by a focus on relevant solutions, improvements, and added value to initiatives.

Do not let this discourage you, it’s all part of the nature of working in TempleDAO–and DeFi in general. Stay adaptable, flexible, and ready for shifts in direction.
