How to Contribute to Each Stage

Chambers exist to get stuff done. Work follows a natural work flow:

  1. Why?

  2. What?

  3. How?

  4. Results

  5. Completion

The type of conversation, people, documents, etc needed at each stage differ.

DAO Games forces chambers to be specifically in one stage at a time.

A chamber can only progress to the next stage when the MC and Sponsor agree it’s ready. MC puts a chamber up for review, but only a Sponsor can approve it and allow progression.

Note: Stages do not need to slow down simple, well-understood chamber tasks. Moving between multiple stages can happen rapidly through one conversation in Discord.

Description of stages & how to work with each

Stage

Description

🌱Why

A chamber has been conjured, but it is not yet agreed to be worked on.

Focus of stage?

  • Decide if should proceed or not,

  • Agree on why this chamber was proposed and it’s intended objectives

  • Exploring a minimum necessary of what/how/result to better visualize the project & make a decision

  • Engage & confirm a Sponsor

Where work happens?

Conversation focused on Discord chat, with the MC driving discussion around why + farming for dissent.

How to help?

Understand the MCs Proposal/the why, give feedback, help clarify the why, and offer ways you can help the future stages!

A MC has input the why and is ready for the Sponsor to review and approve it.

Focus of stage?

  • MC is asking Sponsor to review clarity of the why & any linked documents in the chamber metadata

Where work happens?

Discord chat, in the thread for everyone to track and at times in DMs for 1:1 conversation.

How to help?

Engage the Sponsor, answer questions and make sure this phase doesn’t last long.

🔮 What

A Sponsor has approved the Why, we now need to define the What.

Focus of stage?

  • Align everyone to a crisp single idea (the what)

  • Bring in necessary contributors for current and later stages (so they can begin tracking the concept & contribute)

Where work happens?

Discord chat and for more complex concepts, in a google doc.

How to help?

Bring ideas, suggest new angles on concept, and help push an agreed concept into more crisp clarity.

The MC has moved the chamber into what-review.

Focus of stage?

  • MC is asking the Sponsor to review the clarity of what & any linked documents in the chamber metadata

Where work happens?

Discord chat, in the thread for everyone to track and at times in DMs for 1:1 conversation.

How to help?

Engage the Sponsor, answer questions and make sure this phase doesn’t last long.

Note: the Sponsor should be helping all the way through, not saving up feedback for the final checkpoint. This review point should be short and brief as only a confirmation that the Sponsor agrees the team, MC, and Sponsor have got to the required clarity already.

🧬 How

The Sponsor approved What-Review and now we’re in the How phase.

Focus of stage?

  • Align everyone to crisp specification of the work & process to deliver it (the how)

  • Bring on any further team necessary to execute

Where work happens?

Mostly in documents. For product work, this could be Figma, technical write ups, notion docs, or google sheets. For other tasks it may be in the form of a short briefing in Discord or in a doc.

All of the above will be added to the how in the chamber metadata.

How to help?

Help design the specs, find the right team members to execute, ask questions where elements are still vague, and help drive towards consensus on how to execute.

The MC has moved the chamber into How-Review.

Fundamentally the same as What-Review.

The Sponsor will review the clarity of the how including any linked documents and ensure the team is aligned to a clear plan.

⚡Results

The Sponsor approved How-Review and now we’re in the Results phase, i.e., Execution mode.

Focus of stage?

  • Execute on the how / specs

  • Get the desired result to fulfil the what / why of the chamber

Where work happens?

Mostly out of Discord & docs. People will be coding, managing socials, whatever is necessary to get it done.

How to help?

To get involved, dive in and ask the MC what you can help with.

The MC has moved the chamber into Results-Review.

Fundamentally the same as prior-Review stages, but this time we are reviewing completed results.

The Sponsor will confirm the result listed in the chamber metadata is complete.

🌕 Complete-Wrapping Up

The Sponsor moves the chamber to Complete once Execute-Review is successful. This means that the work has been successfully completed and is ready for the final Council meeting to approve final budgeting/allocation information.

🌑Complete-Archive

The Sponsor moves the chamber to Complete-Archive once the project has had final sign off in the Funding Council Meeting.

📦Abandon-Archive

The Sponsor moves the chamber to Abandon if there is no further work to be done yet the result is not finished. This work can be archived.
