# Becoming a Candidate

Candidates for the Elders Council must be a member of the Temple Discord and hold the Templar role. Candidates are responsible for nominating themselves. They can resign from their nomination at any time.

### How to Become a Candidate 

Once you have the Templar NFT,

1. In the TempleDAO Discord server, type `/gov nominate` and hit enter

2\. After a short period of time, you will receive a prompt from Observance stating that your nomination is successful

3\. [Visit the dApp](https://council.templedao.link/gov/elections) to view your nomination on the front end.

### How to Resign Candidacy

If you no longer wish to be a candidate for the Council of Elders, you may resign at any time.

1. Type `/gov resign` and hit enter

2\. Once your resignation has processed, you will receive the following notification
